Principles of quantum theory, origins of quantum mechanics, wave-particle duality, Schrodinger equation, Born interpretation of the wavefunction, the uncertainty principle, applications of quantum mechanics, atomic structure and spectra, molecular structure, molecular orbital theory, introduction to computational chemistry. (Pre-requisite: 59-241.) (3 lecture hours per week. 3 laboratory hours per week.)
